Word Bearers

Sons of Colchis, the Children of Lorgar, the Word Bearers. This army is configured as a Pride of the Legion army to give me a new playstyle, nearly all Terminators the base of this army represents a nice, easily available and cheap army for someone considering a budget Heresy army or a second detachment without breaking the bank. This army is heavily WIP, painted to a basic standard for gaming with and will be improved in subsequent detail passes when I feel like it.

Core units

These units find their way into most permutations of the list. This is the core of the army that other bits are bolted onto as needed in the mission.

Command Squad and Praetor

This is my command squad and Praetor, the currently unnamed squad intended to lead my army. They're one of several units in my army with Dark Channelling, represented by the fairly extreme mutations the entire unit has.

Command Squad Land Raider

This is their Land Raider. Pride of the Legion armies get to take Terminators as Troops but only get one Heavy Support slot, so to compensate I've brought several Land Raiders along to contribute firepower to the army. This Land Raider is mutated but that's only cosmetic.

Cataphractii Squad 1

The core of my army is a trio of Cataphractii Terminator squads for sitting on objectives, bullying inferior units and providing a flexible multi-purpose squad. Each oen has a Reaper Autocannon, a sergeant with Tainted Axe, some Lightning Claws and another power weapon in there to provide a nice multipurpose block of bodies.

Land Raider

This is squad 1's Land Raider. This is one of my Line units so it's given a tank to make it a little more mobile, though they're not exactly ripping the place up in a Land Raider. Still, it's an APC then it's an unignorable albeit substandard tank.

Cataphractii Squad 2

Another standard 5-man squad for mid-field camping, the Reaper Autocannons means that each unit is difficult to hit from out of range so they can normally do OK in a firefight with another light squad.

Cataphractii Squad 3

This is my second Line unit, bolstered with a couple of Chainfists and Lightning Claws to provide a nice assault unit that can get stuck in and deal with most things it might have to clear off an objective. This squad is my linebreaker.

Spartan

Squad 3's Spartan, as another Line unit they intend to be all the way over there so they ride in style. They can also be swapped for the Tartaros squad on the Warmonger if needed but the Spartan is their go-to battle taxi. Note this is genuinely unfinished, the entire army is somewhat scrappily painted but this one's firmly unfinished.

Extra units

These sections of my army are added to the core to counter different mission requirements or particular enemy armies. More will be added as I go.

Warmonger Consul and Tartaros Squad

My second HQ is a Warmonger Consul with a squad of Tartaros along for the ride, their main job is to get dropped next to problematic stuff and to try and shut it down or blow it up. THey're Tartaros so they can leg it if they scatter badly.

Tactical Squad 1

A cheap and cheerful home-zone camping unit for standing around and being Line. The leader has a Tainted Blade but aside from that theuy're stock. I may replace these and the second squad with sniper recon squads just to give them something to do but they're fairly cheap and they do the job.

Tactical squad 2

Second tactical squad as above, they stand around scoring points or shooting rubbish stuff, also useful if I'm facing an army like Militia that doesn't like multi-charges and I just want a second unit up front.

Contemptor 1

The first of two Warpfire-armed Contemptors, their main job is, unsurprisingly, to punch things in the face and pieplate squads of tough stuff to pin them. This is the meatier of the two dreads.

Contemptor 2

This is the less meaty, more on-fire matching twin of the previous dreadnought.

Indomitus Squad 1

The second set of Line units I can bring in is a pair of Indomitus Terminators. The sergeants have the spikes and each squad has an assault cannon converted from a rotor cannon.

Indomitus Squad 2

The second squad, most of my smaller squads come in matched pairs to prevent having to try and shore up asymmetric weaknesses in my army's deployment. Pretty much every unit is a twin of another unit to give me some redundancy and make sure I can mirror my deployment.

Kratos

My one and only Heavy Support slot goes to a Kratos Heavy Tank. This really ought to be two or three Melta Predators but it's too fun to pack that much gun onto one tank, its job is to pick one or two problem units in an enemy army and annihilate them, it can take on big Terminator squads, characters, Dreadnoughts, enemy tanks and is sort of OK at flyers just based on the sheer amount of las it has.

Bonus Predator

Not part of my normal army but the first model I built for this project, a single Predator with plasma pieplate and a couple of lascannons, occasionally good to drop the Kratos for is I want a nice long ranged gun and some more points elsewhere.
